If you’re a fan of the short lived television series Firefly you’ll recognize the term “verse.” Slang used in Firefly to refer to the universe. As a Browncoat (slang for fans of Firefly) I have dropped a few references to Firefly throughout my Sullivan stories.
At the moment, much of my “creative time” is being used to build a more complete “verse” for Sully and Sarah to go about their business of handing out justice and righting wrongs. The name for this more complete fictional universe is “the Sullyverse.” Another tongue-in-cheek nod to Firefly.
My goal is to create an imaginary world where Sully and Sarah can fully function in anyway I dream up now that they have moved on from Beta Prime.
It is also a universe where familiar characters can tell their own backstory such as found in the Capital City Character novellas or they can tell their own contemporary story should they find themselves somewhere other than Capital City.
Rest assured, the good Father Nathan is likely to show up from time to time when he needs a break from serving as the vicar of his parish in Capital City.
It is my goal to fill the Sullyverse with a multitude of villains, both human and ideological, for Sully and Sarah to take on and hopefully defeat.
For now, the basic outline of differing parts of the Sullyverse, mainly focused on Capital City on the planet Beta Prime, can be found on my website www.kcsivils.com on the Sullyverse page. To my horror, many of the pages are blank and the original files I used to create them are no where to be found. As time permits, I will recreate the missing pages and add more so readers of the original Thomas Sullivan stories can enjoy the backstory and history of those stories.
The rest of the Sullyverse will be created to handle the backstory and history of the new, upcoming Sully and Sarah series of stories. It is in the new part of the Sullyverse that Lies Dead Men Tell will take place.
